15 Jan Congratulations MindShare Graduates of 2013! Recap of the Year
As we kick off 2014 and a new year, I thought I would give a quick recap of the exciting year we had in MindShare, an invitation-only group of CEOs for some of the most promising high tech companies in the region.
I’ve written about MindShare before and in January of 2013 we launched the 17th class of the program. Its model of providing a network and education for CEOs of high growth firms is unique and acceptance into the group is highly coveted!
This year I recapped a few of the classes during the season:
1. I hosted several members of the press, Bloomberg TV, Washington Business Journal and CNN Newsource in a session called Off the Record: MindShare Meets the Press!
2. We were able to hear from former MindShare alums who have experienced enviable success as they talked about their businesses, the good and the bad, what to think about when building a successful company. MindShare Hears From its Peers!
3. Fellow MindShare board member Kristi Hedges led a panel on MindShare Meets the Marketer! Panelists talked about best practices in buliding a marketing program for high-growth companies.
4. The last event of the season was All About Exits! Several MindShare alums shared their experiences in selling their companies at different stagees of their company’s lifecycle. Perfect ending program for a great year.
The CEOs who attend at least 5 of the 8 sessions go on to graduate. This year, we saw 54 graduates who will now join a powerful alumni of over 700 CEOs from the region.
What is MindShare? Launched in 1997, MindShare handpicks 50 to 60 CEOs every year from the area’s hottest emerging growth companies to come together in a private, intimate setting. Its mission is to help CEOs build long-term, sustainable companies by creating opportunities for growth, building a sense of community, and fostering teamwork in a collegial environment.
Over the past 17 years, some of the region’s most successful CEOs have become a part the ever-growing MindShare Alumni Network, including Joe Payne of Eloqua, Tim O’Shaughnessy of LivingSocial, Reggie Aggarwal of Cvent, Rick Rudman of Vocus, Hemant Kanakia of Torrent Networking Technologies, and Phillip Merrick of webMethods, among many others.
Each class of MindShare also gives peer awards at the graduation dinner; the votes come in from the members of the class themselves. This year special recognition was given to:
The Next Millionaire Award: Mo Reda – Allied Soft
Maverick Award: Robert Bohorad – Yuengling’s Ice Cream

We are undergoing the nomination process as we speak, and will be extending invitations over the next few weeks. I’ll be posting this year’s MindShare class once we are ready to get underway!
