Lisa Throckmorton

Executive Vice President
Lisa Throckmorton has been with SpeakerBox for seven years and serves in a senior management role for the firm and its clients. She provides strategic oversight on client accounts, manages day-to-day operations of the business and oversees staff development. Lisa has helped many SpeakerBox clients achieve ultimate business goals, from acquisitions to IPOs, including Internosis (acquired by EMC) and Mobile 365 (now Sybase 365). She has led government communications initiatives for accounts such as Macromedia, Red Hat and Quest Software. With strong experience in the security, wireless, enterprise software and B2G industries, Throckmorton focuses on enabling her teams to deliver against aggressive communications goals.
When it comes to communications strategy, one of Lisa’s passions is the notion of a "Middle School." She believes Middle School is realistically how most marketing organizations are functioning today—blending more traditional marketing activities with new school tools and initiatives to strengthen and expand brand, community and reach.

Lisa has been recognized with numerous awards and achievements for her contributions to the communications profession and technology industry. In 2006, Lisa was named a finalist for PR News’ PR People Awards in the Agency Executive of the Year category— an accolade that honors outstanding leadership and achievement. In 2004, Lisa was recognized as a finalist for Washington Women in PR's Woman of the Year award. This award acknowledges women in the Washington metro area who have demonstrated leadership, honor and community action. In 2005 and 2002, Lisa was respectively honored as a Women In Technology (WIT) Rising Star Award finalist and President's Award recipient for outstanding contribution and dedication to the organization.

Lisa is also a regular guest lecturer to George Mason University and University of Phoenix communications classes, where she talks to students about industry trends and best practices.

Prior to joining SpeakerBox, Lisa was the director of marketing for Career Rewards, Inc., a venture-funded software vendor that provided web-based referral solutions and Knowledge Workers, Inc., a technology-focused professional services firm. Lisa holds a bachelor's degree in English from Radford University.
