MCLEAN, Va. — February 15, 2011 — SpeakerBox Communications, a leading technology public relations firm, announced today two staff members’ appointments to board positions. Lisa Throckmorton, executive vice president, and Pheniece Jones, senior media specialist, will serve on the board of two local organizations.
Lisa Throckmorton was elected to serve a three-year term as a Board member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Educational Foundation. Throckmorton is a member of the B-CC HS Class of 1990. The Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Educational Foundation supports numerous programs to help all students succeed in high school and find a pathway to college and lifelong success. The three signature programs supported by the Foundation are TAP (Time for Academic Progress), offering after-school academic support for students in math, English, and science; CollegeTracks, which helps students who are often the first in their families to go to college to navigate the complex college admissions and financial aid processes; and Summer Academy, a three-week summer program that eases the transition to high school for incoming 9th grade students.
Last month, Pheniece Jones was elected to the Washington Women in Public Relations (WWPR) 2011 board as the Marketing and Communications co-chair. WWPR is the first and only D.C.-based professional organization advancing women in the communications industry. WWPR is committed to delivering outstanding professional development, networking, marketplace positioning, pro bono and leadership opportunities to area communicators.
